Tennis scoring, explained
Six questions that stop a match while everybody looks at each other. Each one gets the short answer first, then the rest of it, then where to find it in the rule book.
- What is no-ad scoring?
One point at deuce, and the receiver picks the side.
- How does a 10-point match tiebreak work?
First to ten, win by two, in place of a deciding set.
- Who serves after a tiebreak?
Whoever received the first point of it, and you change ends too.
- Doubles serving order: who serves next?
Each pair picks its own order, and it resets every set.
- What is TieBreak Tens?
The whole match is one ten-point tiebreak.
- Advantage set or tiebreak set?
Tiebreak at six all, or play it out to two clear.
Every one of these is something Luasc counts for you on an Apple Watch, so the question does not come up at 4-5 in the third. What the app does.
