Frequently asked
Can I score doubles?
Yes. Choose doubles when you set the match up and all four names go on the board. Only one device scores the match, either the watch on your wrist or an iPhone or iPad if nobody is wearing one, so your partner and the other pair need nothing installed. Luasc keeps the service order inside each team, so it knows whether it's you or your partner serving this game, and it asks once, after the first game, which of the other pair serves next. All four names are saved with the finished match, and everyone you play is remembered for next time.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Luasc is best with a watch, which gets you the tennis workout with heart rate, but you can score entirely on your iPhone or iPad, point by point or one tap per game. With a watch paired, the Match tab starts the match on the watch; with no watch paired, or on an iPad, it scores on the device you're holding instead. Choose point-by-point or game-by-game under Settings → Phone scoring.
The phone isn't showing the live score
Make sure Bluetooth is on and the watch and phone are paired. The watch pushes the score after every point; if the phone was out of range it catches up automatically the next time the devices see each other.
Where did my finished match go?
Finished matches appear in the Stats tab on the iPhone. Matches with no points played aren't saved, and demo matches are never saved by design.
How do I rename a player?
iPhone → Settings → Players. Renaming also rewrites your match history so stats merge onto one spelling. Matches started from the watch record placeholder names. Tap any player row in a match's detail view to assign the real person afterwards.
Why is there no workout for my phone-scored match?
iPhones can't run live workout sessions. Only the watch records a workout. Phone-scored matches still get full history, stats and momentum.
How does iCloud sync work?
If you're signed in to iCloud, matches, presets, players and settings sync automatically through your private iCloud database. On a new phone, sign in to the same Apple ID and your history comes back on first launch. See the privacy policy for details.
What stats does Luasc keep?
Every match records both sides' serve and return numbers: aces, double faults, first serves in, points won behind the first and second serve, break points won out of the chances that came, receiving points won, service games won and total points won. Aces and faults are a button each and never required; everything else is counted from the points themselves. Each percentage is shown against your own average once you have played enough matches for an average to mean anything. Every point is also kept on a timeline, which is what draws the momentum chart. Stats and momentum are free, not a Pro feature.
Can I share a finished match?
Yes. Tap the share button on any match in your history. Luasc also offers it unprompted after a match worth talking about. It draws a card: the scoreboard with a column per set, and your choice of the momentum line, your stats against theirs, the match in a sentence, your own numbers alone, or the result on its own. Each card comes in a Post (4:5) shape and a Story (9:16) shape, so it isn't cropped wherever you put it. The card is drawn on your phone, so nothing about the match is sent anywhere to make it. It's free.
What's free, and what's in Luasc Pro?
Everything you need to play is free. That's scoring on your watch, iPhone or iPad, every format, the tennis workout in Apple Health, per-match stats and momentum, and a private iCloud backup of every match. Luasc Pro adds unlimited history (Free shows your 20 most recent matches), win–loss–draw records for every partner and opponent, monthly performance trends, and remembering where you played. Pro is €4.99/month or €29.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or €89.99 once. Nothing you record is ever deleted, so going Pro brings your full history back.
How do I restore a purchase?
On a new device, or after reinstalling, open the Settings tab on your iPhone and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you use the same Apple ID, Luasc Pro unlocks on your iPhone and iPad automatically. There's nothing to buy again.
Questions about tennis, not the app
No-ad, the ten-point match tiebreak, who serves after a tiebreak, doubles serving order: those have pages of their own, with the rule quoted underneath each answer. See the scoring rules, explained.
Rate Luasc
Luasc asks for a review inside the app about as rarely as it can, and never mid-match. If you would rather not wait to be asked, write one on the App Store. That is how the next club player finds it.
